"Thumb-Stopping" Content

I check social media daily and I mainly use Instagram and Twitter to stay up-to-date on the latest news and what's trending in the media. Twitter, especially, has me stopping to look at more tweets about the content or even researching it to learn more because this platform takes latest news and relays it in comedic ways that make you stop and actually read about it.

For example, this is a tweet from Super Bowl Sunday during the Halftime show where there was a tribute to Spongebob. Spongebob tweeted about it in a cute way. If you didn't see the halftime show, seeing this tweet may make you want to go watch it, or just watch the part that Spongebob was in.

This is another example of a "thumb-stopper" from twitter. News broke yesterday that 21 Savage is actually British and while I am still not fully sure the whole story behind this; comedic tweets like this made me want to actually know where he is from and if he is going to go back. Twitter keeps it short and sweet and tells you what you need to know about the latest news and if you want to know more, you can do more research about it on your own.

The last twitter example I am showing is this one about it being 2/3/19 today. If you have seen the classic movie, Monsters Inc., then you will understand the references many people are many on twitter to today's date. This shows how it may not be big news or anything, but twitter still keeps you up-to-date on trends and can always give you a good laugh!

I also use Instagram to stay up-to-date with my friends and family, but also with news and celebrities.

This page, 'enews,' keeps me very up-to-date on the latest gossip about our society and does so in a fun way. There is not much information written on these Instagram posts, but they always include pictures that catches your attention immediately and makes you want to read about it. The above picture is an example that was posted last night about the Puppy Bowl and looking at these pictures of the adorable puppies makes me want to watch it immediately!!

Twitter and Instagram probably aren't the best sources for learning about news, but they definitely can keep you up-to-date on our society and the latest trends and they are very enjoyable to scroll through!
